Finding the Right Wedding Planner
Wedding planning is probably the most exciting part of getting married. But it’s not as easy as 1-2-3, no matter how many people you have in your team. In fact, the more people giving you advice and telling you what to do, the more you get confused and it might lead you to breakdown like some of the brides in reality TV shows. Well, thank heavens there are experts in wedding planning that we can call upon to save us from going insane.
Through the years, wedding planning has been broken down to various duties that it’s truly hard to find a wedding planner who will take care of everything that the bride and groom needs. There are some consultants who will only handle the reception, while others will only take care of the minute details like the flowers, invitations and wedding cake. Take heart, because although it will be a daunting task, you will be able to find a consultant who will handle the wedding planning as a whole.
Don’t be afraid to go through a long list of planners to find the perfect one who will manage all the duties of wedding planning. First things first, though, have your family and friends come up with a list of experts that they have worked with in the past. Wedding planning is not something that you learn from a book, so experience is a must. When it’s time for you to interview them, ask pertinent questions and don’t let the interviewee dazzle you with ideas they came up with for other clients. They must be able to work with you, your ideas and your wants; and not against you when it comes to planning your big day.
A wedding planner’s primary duty is to take care of the needs of both bride and groom. Wedding planning isn’t only about finding the cheapest vendor for the flowers, cakes and party food; your consultant should be able to refer one that they believe will give you the best quality for your budget. Another mistake that couples make is that they think the planner should not be involved in the familial issues; and there have been a lot of squabbles as to the number of invited guests and who will sit with whom on this table. A good wedding planner must be able to handle all these if the bride or groom do not wish to partake in such a petty argument with their relatives. Put in mind that wedding planning is not a task for those with a weak heart, therefore it would be best if you have a wedding planner who’s not keen to breakdown at the first sign of trouble.
It’s important to remember that wedding planning takes months, and not just a few days. With so many details to perfect, you should find a wedding planner at least half a year before your matrimonial day. This will give you enough time to find a new one in the event that you feel that your chosen consultant has not been helping you 100% percent on the wedding planning.
